Milky Way Mustache

I didn't sleep yesterday.  This is why.

This shot was taken at Lost Lake inside the Mt. Hood National Forest.  Lost
Lake is almost directly due north of Mt. Hood. So knowing the Milky Way
always rises due south and with a nearly new moon, I set out to capture
Lost Lake, Mt. Hood and the Milky Way.  I decided to throw myself in
mix as well.  At the conclusion of this photo excursion, I found myself
facing a two hour drive back to Portland at 1 AM to catch a 6 AM flight.

           I'm glad I didn't sleep yesterday.  Aren't you?

Training on the Cosmos

This is a shot of a freight train lumbering along the Union Pacific railroad in the Columbia River Gorge near Multnomah Falls, Oregon.

Road work closures forced me to walk the train tracks that parallel the historic Columbia River highway to my destination two miles away.  Not only was I able to avoid being struck by this train, but also managed to catch it and a meteor.  The orange glow on the left is light pollution from Portland.

Rainy Day Blues

Overcast and rainy this week in Newport, Oregon.  Not much to
photograph.  At least I have some good books and brews.

Cold Steel Fusion

Messing around with cold fusion.  I think I may have solved
the global energy crisis.  Now, to keep the government from
"steeling" my patent.

Happy Belated Christmas

I know it a little past Christmas (only by a few months), but these are some
festive captures of my two year old son, Camryn.

Power Surge

A naturally occurring "power surge" to the tune of 1.21 gigawatts.
Well, at least by Doc Brown's calculations.
